Free-Range Fridays #2
Thanks to my dear brother, Grublet, my Friday posts will now be called Free-Range Fridays. And it’s not because no one else suggested anything, it’s because that title rocks.
As you may or may not have noticed, there was no post this week. This is because I am extremely important and busy doing very very very very important things.
Okay fine, do you want to know what I’ve been doing? I wrote a post. Then rewrote it. Then realized that it wasn’t saying what I wanted it to say and completely overhauled it, got stuck in the middle, became extremely frustrated, and wandered around in the valleys of “I’m-not-good-enough” for several days.
Then I finally finished writing it but became despondent and hopeless at the amount of illustrating it required, which was sad as I was already despondent and hopeless about the state of my home (dirty kids, mountains of laundry, crusty kitchen, ingredients wasting away in my fridge), and I dropped into a sorry state of despondent and hopeless to the power of despondent and hopeless. Though I still continued to draw.
But due to several reasons such as “getting my shiz together” and “getting over myself” I’M BETTER NOW. And the post is a-comin’ in the next few days. Be ready.
SAT words #2
1. To produce a faint image of or resemblance of; to outline or sketch
2. To foreshadow; prefigure
3. To darken or conceal partially; overshadow.
Little Freddy tried to adumbrate all the ways he had been behaving in his letter to Santa, but still did not receive a TenPoint crossbow for Christmas. He did, however, receive a 6-pack of underwear and one cabbage.
I would like to note that never in my entire existence have I used the word “adumbrate”. Though it’s probable that I had it on a vocab quiz and forgot. There are also many other REALLY DIFFERENT ways to use it and you should look it up. Or you could just not care. It’s up to you.
1. Cheerful readiness, promptness, or willingness
2. Liveliness; briskness
George’s alacrity to lose weight was quickly broken when he realized his only menu option was the unsalted durian and cabbage soup.
1. A person or thing detested or loathed
2. A person or thing accursed or consigned to damnation or destruction
Miranda was such a staunch vegan that meat-eating became anathema to her. While her coworkers shoved carcasses down their gobs in the cafeteria she could often be found sitting on the back steps, guzzling a mason jar of cabbage juice and gin.
1. A strong feeling of dislike
Sonny’s antipathy toward Mr. Brown was so great that he would scrawl “Mr. Brown” on cabbages before chopping them in half with a butcher knife. However, the town overlooked his murderous tendencies as Sonny won the blue ribbon for “most scrumptious cole slaw” every year at the county fair.
1. Praise or Approval
In an effort to win Chloe O’Connor’s approbation, Seth dyed his hair a brighter red and perfected his grandmother’s recipe for corned beef and cabbage. Sadly, she friend zoned him and took up with a Chinese boy whose car was very shiny and very low to the ground.
Now off to draw!
